Metal Enclosure

Image 05

An enclosure is a housing constructed to provide a degree of protection from accidental contact with the enclosed equipment and external environmental conditions. Metal enclosures are designed to house electrical, electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic controls/instrumentation. Metal enclosures provide a degree of protection against dirt, dust, oil, and water.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) defines standards used in North America for various grades of electrical enclosures typically used in industrial applications. Each is rated to protect against personal access to hazardous parts, and additional type-dependent designated environmental conditions.
